Not recovering as quickly as you'd hoped.
Are you not getting the results you had expected following illness or injury?
There are many factors which can affect the way we heal and recover:
1️⃣ Daily Stressors: Feeling stressed and anxious is renowned for causing muscle tension which in turn leads to pain and coordination difficulties. Increasing the chances of further injury! 🧠🧘♀️💆🏼♀️
2️⃣ Poor Nutrition: Eating ENOUGH and eating the right things that your body NEEDS. We need a balanced diet to recover from illness and injury, proteins, carbs and fats all help to fuelling our body with the right nutrients and minerals that accelerate the healing process! 🍆🌽🥕🥦🍅🫑
3️⃣ Inconsistent Rehabilitation: Not receiving rehab in a consistent manner can lead to further injury and slowing the rate of recovery. More often than not ONE session will NOT get you 100% back on track. Maintenance work and follow up appointments are the best recipe for preventing injury and ensuring you are at optimal levels for work and return to play.
4️⃣ Fatigue and Over Training: Too much stress on muscles and tendons when injured can have a negative effect. They need time to recover and strengthen to allow maximum results. 💪🏼🏋🏼♀️
5️⃣ Incorrect Diagnosis: Have you had a professional diagnosis, from a registered therapist? Googling your symptoms or self-diagnosis can lead you down the wrong path and mix up rehab protocols, be sure to get a correct diagnosis if your symptoms aren’t improving after following home care rehab. 💻🖥
6️⃣ Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: If you are already diagnosed with health-related issues and take medication for a pre-existing condition this can slow down your rate of recovery ❤️🩹 💊
7️⃣ Lack of Sleep: Are you getting enough sleep? We feel pain more when we are tired. Plus, adequate amounts of sleep help regenerate and grow healthy new tissue which we need to recover from injury. When we sleep the brain releases Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and testosterone which we need to replace damage is tendons, ligaments, bones and muscles. 😴🛏🥱
FUN FACT 🗯 a single night of sleep deprivation can reduce the amount of testosterone produced by 24% and slow down the rate of recovery by 18%! So, make sure you’re catching those Z’s 💤💤💤
